What makes a “professional” antenna different from the others?
We define an antenna as “professional” when it actually meets the technical requirements indicated in its datasheet.
Unfortunately, the antenna market is full of products that are defined “professional” even if they are not.
In particular, omnidirectional antennas are proposed too often promising a gain level not correspondent to the real performance.
Fortunately, there is a mathematical formula that allow us to verify the reliability of this data by comparing the declared gain with the mechanical dimensions and the frequency range.
If you need to know how to evaluate the reliability of the gain data indicated in the datasheet of the omnidirectional antenna you are using or you want to avoid to buy a poor quality product, you’ll find all the information in this technical paper.
